What is an Ebook?
So first things first. What is an ebook? In a layman’s language, ebooks are normal books that are simply made available for readers using their digital devices like mobile phones, laptop etc. They are usually distributed in EBUP, AZW, or PDF format. The two main features of ebooks are that:
1. They cannot be edited: This means that they cannot be played with by the readers. When an ebook is made and saved, it cannot be recreated by anyone. For this reason, ebooks are read-only documents.
2. They usually fit the screen: The second characteristics of an ebook is that, it resizes to fit the screen of the users.
Why people use ebooks
1. It is a great idea for people who do not sleep when reading using their digital devices.
2. They are portable and easily accessible because of their storage formats. An ebook of over 700 pages can be save in a mobile phone. That makes it really easy and fast to use.
3. It is easier to search an ebook because of the device searching feature.
4. Ebooks are cheap and that is exactly what attracts users most time.
5. Ebooks have better user experience than hardcopy textbooks.
How to make money from selling ebooks
Step 1: Create your own website: As you may know, everything on the internet requires traffic. If you want to make good amount of money selling Ebooks, you need to create a website that will enable readers search and find you online. This can be a bad idea if you meet the wrong person or company to do the work for you. But, if you can bring out a reasonable amount of money to create a website that ranks greatly on search engines, then the job is halfway done.
A website is necessary because it helps to build trust between you and your buyers. It also serve as your online store where people can buy from you.
Step 2: Publish your ebook: This is a very important part of this article and I enjoin you to pay good attention here. Publishing your ebook simply mean that you should put out those ebooks on your website and start promoting them.
If you are not good at writing your own ebooks then there are two options available to you. First, you can decide to start selling books using affiliate links. This means that you will be paid a commission for every book you sell through your affiliate link.
Alternatively, you can also decide to buy ebooks from others and sell them to the general public again, without being penalized. This can be done using PLR (Also known as Private Label Right). You will be given the right to use the ebook as if it was originally produced by you. Thus, you can change the name, title or even color of the ebook to whatever you want.
After publishing your work, you have to promote them. I mean, you have to let people know about your book. To do this, you only need to share it on social media like Facebook, Twitter etc. In fact, if you want a rapid promotion, I recommend you to advertise to social media instead. By doing that, you are definitely going to reach out to more persons.
Step 3: Make a payment gateway for readers: Finally you have to make it possible for readers to pay after purchasing the ebook. Actually, you can ask them to make an order then you will deliver the book to them and be paid, or they can pay for the book and download it online.
In my opinion, it is better to support the both. If users want to order for it, allow them to do so. Accordingly, if they want to pay online, give them the option for that. Through this way, you won’t lose readers because of their inability to pay or get your book.
In conclusion, i must confess that ebook has been one of the major sources of income for most of my friends. With the recent developments in technology and the high volume of students that prefer reading softcopy books these days, I do not think ebooks will stop selling anytime soon.
